(Parma) Congressman Jim Renacci was at the Tri-C West Campus in Parma on Wednesday night to host a forum for veterans having problems receiving benefits. The forum included representatives from the Department of Veteran's Affairs.
About 100 veterans attended the forum where booths were set up to give each person individualized attention. Renacci says veteran's claims in Ohio take an average of 462 days to process and complete. Staffers at the VA are working mandatory overtime to process nearly 800,000 claims nationally. Nearly 24,000 claims are waiting to be processed in Cleveland.
Before he left on vacation, President Obama addressed a veteran's convention, promising that his administration is working to reduce the backlog of veterans weating on their benefits.
