Looks like the pastor of St. Aloysius church in Springfield, Illinois has got some 'splaining to do! It seems that back on November 28th Father Tom Donovan called 911 from the rectory and told the dispatcher that he needed help getting out of handcuffs. He told the dispatcher that he was alone and stated, “I’m going to need help getting out before this becomes a medical emergency.” It’s not clear exactly how he ended up in handcuffs or why he was worried about a medical emergency. On the 911 tape, his voice sounds muffled, and sources say that police discovered some sort of gag on the priest when they arrived. Father Donovan has requested to be put on leave of absence. The diocese has kept quiet about the matter, saying only that Donovan’s request for a leave of absence had been granted at some point before Christmas. Donvan's whereabouts have not been disclosed.
