ABOUT
In 1995 Jimmy Malone, his wife April, and their daughter Angela gave out 3 small scholarships to help 3 deserving students buy college textbooks. What started has a small “onetime” gesture, has turned into a commitment to help as many deserving students as possible attend the college of their choice. In 2009 The Malones gave out 34 college scholarships. As of 2009, they have given scholarships to more than 90 students. Approximately 90% of their scholarship students graduate from college.

DIVERSITY
The Jimmy Malone Scholarship is not a minority scholarship. There are no racial or religious restrictions for the scholarship. The Malones are proud that their scholarships are awarded to any qualified student with financial need who has been accepted to an accredited college. There are no restrictions on what school they can attend or what they major in.

MORE THAN MONEY
The Malones are also very proud of their personal involvement with all of their students. Each scholarship recipient receives the scholarship for four years. During that time the Malones communicate with and visit the students on a regular basis. Each student is encouraged and expected to call or write about their problems, successes, and challenges.

THE GOLF TOURNAMENT
The major fund raiser for the Malone Scholarship is their annual golf tournament. The Malones are lucky to have lots of support from generous donors throughout the community. Every July the sponsors enjoy a great day of golf at a prestigious country club. Additionally, the donors and sponsors have the opportunity to mingle with all of the scholarship recipients, hear updates on their progress and have the chance to talk to them about their dreams and goals.
